Well, sort of...
Remember Lt. Dan from Forest Gump talking about taking care of your feet when he first met Gump and Bubba? Well, I have taken that philosophy to the firehouse. Last week I ordered my first set of leather boots. Firefighting boots that is. And yesterday, after getting home from Luke's, I got to see what all the noise about leather boots really was. They actually fit like a shoe. Firm and supportive. Nothing like the rubber boots that I've been wearing for years. I was quite surprised at how well they fit and thought "Why didn't I get these sooner?" Back at 31's today with only one run in the books. Just like any other new item that I purchase, I want to keep them looking good for a while. Yet, I do know that they need to be broken in.
Along with the boots, I ordered the 87 Rescue Tool by Channellock. There has just been too many times where I've needed a wrench for something where this tool would have come in handy. Now, that's just one less thing I'll have to worry about. Just a few early gifts to myself before the holidays.
